"YOU CAN'T STOP THE WAVES, BUT YOU CAN LEARN TO SURF." JON KABAT-ZINN
Participating in therapy, mindfulness, or any practice of healing or self development takes vulnerability and courage. I aim to work with myself and clients from this place of curiosity, willingness, and strength. I have training and experience in several evidence based treatment modalities, and we can determine which approach/s are right for you. Regardless of approach, I honor the role that cultivation of awareness and internal resources plays in the process of acceptance, growth, and healing. I offer therapy for mental health ailments and concerns, as well as individual and group mindfulness training, via Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and tailored programs. Check my schedule, or contact me to discuss mindfulness training throughout the western slope of Colorado. I work with individual therapy clients in Ridgway, Montrose, and Delta, Colorado.
I have taught mindfulness on the western slope since 2010, and have completed the rigorous training to be a Qualified MBSR teacher through the University of Massachusetts' Medical School's Center for Mindfulness. I participate in ongoing supervision regarding my practice of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction). I work primarily with adults and children ages 7-15 whose caregivers are interested in EMDR intervention. This includes some aspects of age appropriate play therapy.
Mindfulness training can be a stand alone intervention as with the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course (MBSR) or a wonderful complement to other therapy approaches or medical interventions . In May 2017, I became a Qualified MBSR teacher, after several years of rigorous training through University of Massachusetts' Medical School's Center for Mindfulness. I have been fortunate to pursue additional training in evidence based practices including: Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapy (a kind of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Brief Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing(EMDR). During our first meeting we will talk about your situation, goals, and what has and has not worked in the past, and what I can offer. From there, we will develop a treatment plan or I can refer you to other service providers or resources to meet your needs.
Paying for Services: Payors I currently work with either in or out of network are United, EBMS, Coresource, Rocky Mountain Health Plans, Medicare, and Triad EAP. I offer a private pay discount at $90 per counseling session and offer a sliding scale for multi week courses.
